Collecting sports cards has long been a popular North American hobby. Over the years many such cards have acquired significant economic value. These days sports cards are a business and no longer an exclusive past time of of small time collectors. Large companies buy and sell sports memorabilia for profit.

I used to be a pure collector of vintage baseball cards. Vintage baseball cards are a great way to connect to the past, and make the most sound investments among baseball cards. After selling my own card collection, I started selling on eBay for other people on consignment. Collecting autographed sports cards helps us all feel like a kid again. Remember standing near the baseball field, pushing the other fans, trying to get an autograph of your favorite players? That's what this great hobby is all about. Another one of my collecting pursuits is Topps Allen and Ginter Baseball. Aside from baseball stars, the set showcases boxers, wrestlers, riflemen, rowers and billiard experts.

I started collecting about 5 years ago and what started as a casual interest very quickly turned into an obsession that I hope I'll never lose interest in.

Each company's sports card price guide is organized a touch differently, but both sites feature pricing for virtually every sports card ever made. While Beckett's price guide is the most expensive, it is also the most respected of the price guides.
